Victorian Collaborative Mental Health Nursing Conference  

3 & 4 August 2017 

This annual, two-day conference is hosted by the Centre for Psychiatric Nursing, The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (Vic Branch), The Health & Community Services Union and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (Vic Branch).  It aims to focus on the practice of mental health nursing and how this practice contributes to better health outcomes for the consumers of mental health services. The focus of the program is on clinical practice and related issues.

The event is held at Moonee Valley Race Course, in the Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds. The venue is close to Melbourne's CBD and is well serviced by public transport. Ample free parking is also available on site. Various accommodation options are available in the area, or you may opt to stay within the CBD and commute by train, tram or taxi to the venue.

Professor of Mental Health Nursing at the University of Central Lancashire, will report on a large program in North West England that employs six core strategies to reduce seclusion and restraint

Kim Foster  

Professor of Mental Health Nursing at Australian Catholic University, will speak about her expert work in the area of resilience for consumers and nurses alike 

Trevor Hunt  

Head of the DHHS Mental Health and Drugs Workforce, will provide an up-to-date overview of the Victorian State Government’s mental health workforce strategy and innovations agenda

Haley Peckham  

Neuroscientist Dr Haley Peckham will give us the good news on neuroplasticity, trauma and recovery, from the perspective of both her own lived experience and her scientific expertise.
