MENTAL HEALTH NURSING – THIS IS OUR STORY
Mental Health Nursing: This is our story is a documentary film by Associate Professor Natisha Sands, Associate Professor Stephen Elsom, John Vokoun and Donna Saunders about contemporary mental health nursing in Australia. Drawing on the stories of mental health nurses from a wide range of Australian mental health settings, the film explores the practice world of 21st Century mental health nursing. A spirit of optimism, resilience and pride is evident as MHNs talk about what they do, how they do it, and the things that matter to them. The film paints a compelling picture of a unique and diverse profession in which the challenges and opportunities are many.
ROUND THE BEND
On World Mental Health Day 2012, the CPN launched a documentary entitled Round the Bend: A History of Psychiatric Nursing in Victoria, that was written, filmed and produced by Associate Professor Natisha Sands and John Vokoun. This feature length documentary explores the development of psychiatric nursing from the early colonial beginnings in 1848 through to the post-institutional present.
